Epic Risk Management win NCPG award

EPIC Risk Management are delighted to announce that they have been named as winners of the Jim Wuelfing Annual Award for Prevention at the National Council on Problem Gambling’s 33rd National Conference on Gambling Addiction and Responsible Gambling.

The Jim Wuelfing Award for prevention is awarded annually to organizations that display outstanding achievement in advocacy, development, integration, outreach, research, or training in the area of prevention of problem gambling. EPIC Risk Management were recognized by the National Council on Problem Gambling for their successful, ground-breaking programmes of education, awareness, and training both in the UK & Europe, and now the US.

The foundation of EPIC’s work is built on lived experience, with first-hand understanding of the harm that out of control gambling can inflict at the heart of everything we deliver. With 40% of our team having lived through their own experiences of gambling addiction, our mission has always been to “take the problem out of gambling” and in turn save lives. This prestigious award is further recognition of the importance of EPIC’s work across 16 countries, aimed at reducing gambling harm in some of the highest risk sectors, including education, professional sport, the gambling industry, financial services, criminal justice and armed forces.Through a unique partnership with the GVC foundation US, a non-profit aimed at promoting responsible gambling and sports integrity, EPIC is now delivering programmes to professional sports teams and leagues, and NCAA colleges throughout America. Thanks to significant funding from the GVC Foundation US, the two organizations are aiming to educate thousands of professional and student athletes and staff in 14 territories over the next two years. John Millington, VP US Operations for EPIC commented “I’m very proud that EPIC continues to be recognized for the important work we are doing to reduce gambling harm across the globe. Our programs throughout the UK and Europe have been a great success, and the work we are now delivering in the US is essential to ensure the American market makes the right strides to be both safe and sustainable”.EPIC Founder and CEO, Paul Buck said “We have been close friends with Keith Whyte and the National Council on Problem Gambling team for some time and have been great supporters of their work. It is truly an honour for EPIC to be recognized by the NCPG for the continued work we deliver across the world to reduce gambling harm and save lives. We look forward to collaborating further with the NCPG to make a difference in the US.”
