EPIC to promote collaboration on gambling harm prevention at G7 Canada Brain Economy Summit

EPIC Global Solutions will highlight why prevention, education, early detection, and support around problem gambling needs a globally-consistent and collaborative approach as part of an event held in support of next week’s G7 Leaders’ Summit Kananaskis.

The global leaders in gambling harm prevention have helped to form a panel on ‘Advancing Whole-System Approaches to Gambling Harm in High-Risk Sectors’ during the Global Forum on Responsible Gaming and Gambling Policy (June 13-14), part of the G7 Canada Brain Economy Summit.

Hosted at BMO Centre at Stampede Park, Calgary, the panel takes place on the first day of the forum (Friday June 13, 2.15pm), with the premise of exploring how prevention, education, early detection, and support at the point of play can be integrated across high-risk sectors such as sports, gaming, veterans/military, and education. Panelists will highlight innovative models and partnerships that build resilience, reach at-risk groups early, and strengthen the overall system of care.

EPIC’s principal consultant Dan Spencer will be joined on the panel by Dan Umfleet, CEO, Kindbridge; Rasmus Kjaergaard, CEO, Mindway AI; and Mark Hicks, managing director, NCAA, with moderation from Brianne Doura-Schawohl, principal, BDS Consulting.

The event takes place during the two days prior to the start of Canada’s hosting of the 51st G7 summit, in which many of the world’s leaders – including US president Donald Trump and UK prime minister Keir Starmer – will be descending on Kananaskis, west of Calgary, to address intergovernmental political and economic issues.

“It’s very welcome news that responsible gaming and gambling is going to be given this global platform as part of the G7 events in Calgary and Kananaskis,” said EPIC CEO, Paul Buck.

“We’ve been active across most continents during the past decade – successfully collaborating with major organizations to raise awareness of harm prevention methods – and are pleased to be taking our place alongside other major global entities that share our commitment to preventing gambling-related harm.

“The knowledge we’ve built up around best practice preventative and educational measures transcends jurisdictions and we hope that our key messages about a consistent and collaborative harm prevention approach will be the takeaway actions for an influential global audience as part of the G7 Canada Brain Economy Summit.”

Harris Eyre, Executive Director of Brain Capital Alliance and coordinator of the G7 Canada Brain Economy Summit, noted:

“The Global Forum on Responsible Gaming and Gambling Policy is bringing together a wide range of voices — including industry, healthcare, academic, and policy experts — to inform global conversations around gambling-related harms. We look forward to welcoming EPIC, as part of this dialogue.”
