EPIC CEO Paul Buck takes key place in Brazil Sports Tech Summit lineup for São Paulo
The International Governance and Risk Institute (GovRisk), in partnership with Genius Sports and GeoComply, has announced the full agenda and final speaker roster for the ‘Brazil Sports Tech Summit: Integrity, Innovation and Intelligence’, including a one-to-one conversation on responsible gambling education’s role in athlete performance and safeguarding customers involving EPIC CEO Paul Buck.
Taking place in two weeks’ time, on 4th September 2025 at the Museum of Football in São Paulo, the Summit provides a packed day of panels, fireside discussions and live demonstrations, to debate the future of Brazilian sports.
Leading officials and executives from across global sport, government, and industry will deliver insights on three key themes: driving innovation, defending integrity and leveraging intelligence to shape the future of sport.
“We’re looking forward to playing our part in conversations at the event on how to make this work sustainably in not just an emerging gambling market like Brazil, but any other territories represented by the key stakeholders in attendance,” said Paul Buck, CEO of EPIC Global Solutions.
“Bringing leaders from the worlds of government, sport and the gambling industry together at events like this is crucial for sparking both the conversations and actions that need to happen for a collaborative approach to be adopted.”
Session highlights include:
- Match-fixing and global vigilance: NFL’s Sabrina Perel, CONMEBOL’s Graciela Garay, CBF’s Eduardo Gussem, the Premier League’s Adrian Ford and chaired by Genius Sports’ Stephen Thurley, explore the latest global strategies to protect fair play.
- 20 years on from the Mafia do Apito scandal: Brazilian integrity expert Paulo Schmitt, who prosecuted the case and Genius Sports’ Tiago Horta Barbosa revisit the lessons of one of Brazil’s most significant refereeing controversies.

- Officiating 2.0 – AI in action: The Premier League’s pioneering semi-automated offside technology (SAOT) will be demonstrated by former EPL match official Harry Lennard, now at Genius Sports.
- Regulatory reform and growth in Brazil: Senior government leaders including Régis Anderson Dudena (Ministry of Finance, SPA) and Giovanni Neto (Ministry of Sport) join, Esportes da Sorte’s Ana Carolina Luna Maçães, Superbet’s Alexandre Fonseca, IC360’s Scott Sadin and MYLaw’s Luiz Felipe Maia, to debate the future of Brazilian sports betting regulation and its role in tackling illegal betting.
- Responsible gambling: Paul Buck, CEO of EPIC Global Solutions and gambling industry expert Martin Lycka will debate measures to safeguard customers through lived experience and education.
- Innovation in sports tech: Genius Sports’ Chris Dougan and Guilherme Buso, and GLI’s Georges Didier share cutting-edge detection tools and market growth strategies.
“The CBF created the Brazilian Football Integrity Unit in 2025, responsible for combating the manipulation of competitions,” explained Eduardo Gussem, CBF Integrity Officer.
“Since then, mechanisms and work processes have been implemented that have resulted in a significant drop in the receipt of reports from companies that monitor the sports betting market. We believe that through transparency, integrity, awareness and, above all, education we can build a much safer and healthier environment.
“Thus, participating in an event with the main leaders of the segment is a source of great honour.”
